About Us

The Dawson College Robotics Team is a student-run, multidisciplinary group that designs, builds, and competes in the annual Canadian Robotics Competition (CRC). We bring together students from Engineering Technologies, Computer Science, Industrial Design, Business, and the Arts to collaborate on innovative projects that blend creativity, teamwork, and technical problem-solving.

Mission, Vision & Values

The principles that guide everything we do

Our Mission

We inspire Dawson students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. Our team promotes hands-on learning, collaboration, and leadership — helping members develop the technical and interpersonal skills needed in modern industries.

Our Vision

To be recognized as Canada's premier student robotics community, where curiosity meets precision and collaborative innovation shapes the future of technology education.

Our Values

Innovation • Education • Sustainability • Teamwork

Our Founding Story

In September 2018, five engineering students at Dawson College shared a common frustration: the gap between theoretical classroom learning and practical application. Armed with nothing but curiosity and a borrowed Arduino kit, they began meeting in a small storage room after classes.

What started as informal tinkering sessions quickly evolved into structured projects. By winter 2019, word had spread, and our membership grew to 15 passionate students. We secured our first official meeting space and participated in our inaugural competition—the Quebec Student Robotics Challenge.

Today, Dawson Robotics stands as a testament to what happens when curiosity meets opportunity. We've grown from that small storage room to a fully-equipped workshop, from 5 founding members to over 50 active participants, and from local competitions to national recognition.

Our Educational Philosophy

Learn by Doing

We believe the best way to understand robotics is to build, test, fail, and iterate. Every concept is reinforced through practical application.

Collaborative Growth

Knowledge sharing and peer mentorship create an environment where everyone teaches and everyone learns, regardless of experience level.

Real-World Impact

Every project connects to practical applications, preparing students for industry challenges while solving meaningful problems.
